Pizza Pizza! Hanna and Robert at Desano’s Pizzeria!

Wedding

If someone asked me specifically what drives me to shoot weddings, this wedding would be one of the reasons that would come to mind.

Living in Los Angeles is a high-stress world to deal with. With the buzzing of traffic, construction, tourism and of course the occasional movie crew blocking the road, it takes a certain type of person to live here. For some, it’s the place to be and they couldn’t imagine anywhere else to live. For Hanna and Robert, it was an amazing stepping stone in their lives and they knew at some point, the adventure would take them somewhere else one day. So for them, making sure that their wedding photos would bring the memories of their time in Los Angeles was really important!

Now, I’ve been shooting weddings since 2009 and I’m not going to lie… this is the first time I’ve shot a wedding inside of a pizzeria! When I first met Hanna and Bobby and they told me the layout of their wedding plans, I was more than excited to know the whole venue was Desano’s Pizzeria in Los Angeles. While they’d be getting ready at AirBNB’s and we would be doing some shooting at the Los Angeles City College, Desano’s would be the location for the ceremony and reception. I’d have to say… these are my kinda people. Los Angeles off-beat wedding with pizza? YES.

I feel like a wedding like this explains itself! After some heart-filled words during the ceremony and the rings being exchanged, the party opened up and the pizza hit the tables. I hope you enjoy looking at these images as much as I loved shooting them for this very sweet couple on their special day. It feels really nice knowing that someday they will be going back to their wedding images and those will be bringing them back to a time and place of a very happy memory.

Marie + Todd | Brief Hipster Wedding in Altadena
Like I’ve shown before in many of my posts, not everything about weddings need to be extravagant or over the top to be something special. While there is nothing wrong of course with some decadence and flair to a wedding, sometimes keeping it intimate is the better route to take. Truthfully, the reason this is happening is because of two people and their love, so what matters is what they want to do to celebrate that, not to give into norms. Most of my couples have this way of thinking, which is one of the reasons why they are so awesome. That’s how Marie and Todd felt about their wedding. After having a very private ceremony with family an ...

A sunset session with Rachel and Colin
What I enjoy most about photographing couples is just watching them have fun together. Not only do I get to create the art that I love, but I get to hang out with awesome people who are crazy about each other. Recently I moved to Los Angeles away from my home in Northern California. It was a big change for me, but let me tell you it was one of the best decisions ever made. I feel like I finally found my little place in the world. While down here, I've met some pretty awesome people. Turns out, they were also transplants from Northern California as well. When I went home for the Holidays, turns out Colin had family out here as well. So w ...

Vanessa + Aaron | Seaside Colorful Wedding in Pacific Grove
When I found out that Vanessa and Aaron booked the Asilomar Conference Ground in Pacific Grove as their venue I of course immediately looked online to get an idea. I was not disappointed. The images I found where beautiful and I knew that any venue walking distance from the beautiful beaches of California is going to be amazing. I’ve said before that having a personal relationship with your client is integral to making sure they get amazing photos. I think as a photographer it’s of course about observing; watching the world as it happens and documenting. But weddings are far more intimate in their closeness of the family, the new connections ...
